Periodically DevoutNone will be featuring different groups, organizations, and individuals that show the atheist community thriving. In order for political policies to change, it is important that atheists are not afraid to state their atheism. Our hope is that by featuring the atheist community, individuals will want to speak out and be heard. Or, at the very least, not shy away from stating “I am an atheist.”

Who Are The Seattle Atheists?

This time we are featuring the Seattle Atheists. An affiliate of the American Atheist group, Seattle Atheists won the 2010 Affiliate of the Year award. The award was given to the group for their dedication to activism, community support, and the advancement of a positive view of atheism. The group is best described by their own words on their website: “Seattle Atheists hope to encourage and create a thriving community of atheists and humanists, whose presence is known, respected, and involved as any other non-profit group in the open-minded and tolerant Puget Sound area.”

Are You An Atheist In Seattle?

If you are an atheist living in Seattle and the surrounding Puget Sound area, you are not alone. In fact, Seattle is one of the best places in the country to be a person who does not practice a religion. According to bestplaces.net, only 34.2% of people living in Washington claim religious affiliation. If you still feel part of the minority, we encourage you to be part of the Seattle Atheists community. Below is a list of a few different ways to get in contact and be a part of the Seattle Atheists.
